VIJAY GUPTA/ ER ABHA GUPTA Jammu, Sep 20 Q: What were the major challenges faced and how you handled them during the lock down time? A: The corona time and the lockdown time was an unprecedented situation for the police forces of the entire country. In J&K Police forces worked in many levels. The very first thing was to enforce the SOPs amongst the public who were unaware about these new SOPs. The second was the safety concerns of police personnel and their families. At the entry point of Jammu i.e Lakhanpur there was testing being done for Covid right from beginning and police played a major role because there was a lot of rush and lot of testing was done every day. Police did its job very well and till date they are doing the same. Q: What were the necessary measures taken for the safety of police personnel and their families during Covid times? A: Yes, police personnel got infected while on duty during the Covid times. But necessary precautions are being taken by police personnel whenever they are visiting any COVID Centre. They are well geared with PPE kits, mask etc. For those police personnel who lost their lives due to COVID, their families were provided with the ex-Gratia amount for their support. Q: What is the status of vaccination of police personnel? A: 90% of the police personnel have been vaccinated. The left are those who have been advised by the doctors to delay the vaccination. Other than this, there are lady police officers who are pregnant and have been advised by the doctors to be vaccinated later. Q: What steps are being taken by you to keep youngsters away from drug menace? A: Drugs menace is a big issue these days. We are trying our best to catch all the drug peddlers who are trying to spread the menace of drugs in the society. The areas near the Pakistan border are the prime areas where we get hold of the drug peddlers. Q: What is the message you want to give to the general public on COVID awareness? A: First and foremost is that people should follow all the SOPs which are meant for COVID prevention like wearing mask, washing hands, avoiding social gatherings, maintaining social distance etc. Other than this the people who are eligible for vaccination should get the double dose of the vaccination.
