In a significant development, Jammu Police has successfully apprehended Yudhvir Singh s/o Virdev Singh R/o Mandi Sangwali, Samba, at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi. The accused was taken into custody the moment he landed from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, marking a major breakthrough in the high-profile Sumit Jandyal alias Gataru murder case.The arrest was made by the Jammu Police team led by Inspector Deepak Pathania SHO Nowabad (I/C SIT) assisted by Inspector Varuneshwar Singh, PSI Anoop Kumar under the close supervision of DySP PC,SP Ops Jammu and under the overall supervision of SSP Jammu
Investigations have revealed that Yudhvir Singh played a crucial financial role in the conspiracy, transferring funds into multiple accounts linked to the accused before the murder. These transactions were used to purchase an Alto car just a week prior to the crime, a vehicle that was later instrumental in the execution of Jandyal’s murder. The murder was committed on 21 January, 2025.
The case, registered under FIR No. 14/25 at Police Station Nowabad, includes charges under Sections 103(1), 3(5), 49, 111(2)(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3/4/25 of the Arms Act. With this latest arrest, police have further tightened the noose around all individuals involved in the conspiracy, leaving little room for those still under investigation to evade the law.
The murder of Sumit Jandyal, s/o Om Prakash, a R/o Ward No. 9, Vijaypur, had sent shockwaves across the area & with each arrest, the case is unraveling deeper layers of a meticulously planned crime, backed by financial transactions and strategic execution. The latest developments bring investigators one more step closer to the deeper details in the case.
