In a decisive action against illegal gambling, a police team from Police Post Residency(PS City) apprehended four notorious gamblers during a raid at Eidgah Road near Grace Hotel. The accused were caught red-handed while engaging in gambling in an open space.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ajaz Ahmed (Nawapur, Khanyar), Sayed Irshad (Renawari, Srinagar), Ghulam Mohammad (Safakadal, Srinagar), and Nazir Ahmed (Kangan Chatergul, Ganderbal). Their activities had been under police surveillance, leading to this successful operation.
During the raid, the police recovered ₹7,000 in gambling stakes (Tikdi) and a set of playing cards from the accused. They have been booked under Section 13 of the Gambling Act, and further investigations are underway to trace any larger network involved in gambling activities.
