Islamabad, June 25 Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar said that India managed to avenge their defeat in the ODI World Cup final after beating Australia in the T20 World Cup Super 8 match. On Monday, June 24, the Men in Blue defeated Mitchell Marsh’s men by 24 runs at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. After being asked to bat first, India came out firing on all cylinders and secured their berth in the semi-final of the tournament. Rohit Sharma played a huge part as he scored 92 runs off 41 balls with 7 fours and 8 sixes. The Indian skipper smashed the fastest fifty off 19 balls in the ongoing mega event and set the tone for the innings. On the back of his knock, India scored 205 for the loss of 5 wickets. Thereafter, they restricted the Aussies to 181 for 7. Akhtar was in awe of Rohit’s intent and said that he wished for the Indian captain to score 150. “The depression India was going through after their defeat to Australia in the ODI World Cup final has changed into obsession. India wanted to take down Australia. Rohit Sharma did what he needed to do. He played with brilliant intent, the way he took down Starc. I wish he scored 150 today,” Akhtar said in a video on his ‘X’. After Rohit’s whirlwind knock, it was the Indian bowlers who never allowed the Australian batters dictate terms. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of their bowlers after he got the wickets of David Warner, Tim David and Matthew Wade to finish with figures of 4-0-37-3.
