Jaishankar reiterates commitment to merge PoJK with India

VIJAY GUPTA JAMMU, MAY 14 Amidst the uprising of people against Pakistan in Pak-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), India has once again reiterated its steadfast stance on the region. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s recent declaration that-“one day we will end the illegal occupation of the PoK and the PoK will join with India”- resounds with the promise of justice and liberation for the people languishing under the illegal occupation of Pakistan. For decades, the people have been subject to the repressive grip of the Pakistani state and its military apparatus. Basic human rights have been trampled upon, and the aspirations of the populace have been systematically suppressed. However, in recent times, the simmering discontent has erupted into visible protests, as the people bravely rise against the tyranny they endure. Recent escalation of protests serves as a poignant reminder of the urgency of the situation. The Pakistani authorities' response, marked by violence and repression, only serves to highlight their disregard for basic human rights and democratic principles. The world cannot turn a blind eye to the plight of the people, whose cries for freedom and justice reverberate across the valleys and mountains of the region. Jaishankar’s words echo the sentiments of millions who yearn for freedom and justice. He reaffirms India’s unwavering commitment to the cause of justice and the rights of the people of occupied part of J&K. The situation remained tense in occupied Kashmir under Pakistan as the total strike against high prices of wheat flour and inflated electricity bills and taxes entered its fourth day, with the Pakistan government stepping up efforts to de-escalate the situation following deadly clashes between security forces and protesters. Amid a wheel-jam strike persisting for the fourth consecutive day, a long march spearheaded by the Awami Action Committee (AAC) set off for the PoJK capital, Muzaffarabad, Geo News reported. The Indian government’s stance is not a recent development; it is rooted in historical truth and international legality. The Indian Parliament passed a resolution in 1996, underscoring PoJK as an integral part of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This resolution stands as a testament to India’s firm belief in the territorial integrity of the region and its commitment to uphold the rights of its people. India’s stance on region is not driven by mere political expediency; it is a moral imperative. It is a call to uphold the principles of justice, democracy, and human rights. The people deserve the right to determine their own destiny, free from the shackles of foreign occupation and oppression. As the international community watches the events unfolding in PoJK, it must stand in solidarity with the aspirations of the people. The time has come for the world to recognize the illegitimacy of Pakistan’s occupation of PoJK and to support the quest for justice and freedom. In reaffirming its stand on occupied Kashmir, India sends a powerful message to the world – a message of hope, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the principles of justice and freedom. The road ahead may be fraught with challenges, but with the support of the global community, the people of PoJK will one day realize their dream of a liberated and prosperous future.
