WTC Points Table: India slip below Bangladesh in latest ICC rankings

London, Jan 29 India slipped below Bangladesh in the latest WTC rankings after losing their home Test match to England in Hyderabad. On Sunday, 28 January, England completed a famous victory against India after winning the opening Test match of the series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. England defeated India by 28 runs in the first Test taking a 1-0 lead against Rohit Sharma's India. As a result, India slipped down the WTC points table and is currently ranked at the No. 5 spot. The WTC standings is led by Australia, followed by South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh and then India in the fifth spot. The Indian team have played 5 Test matches in the ongoing World Test Championship tournament and have won and lost two Test matches each and have drawn one game. India have won one Test match each in West Indies and South Africa and lost one match each against South Africa and England. India's solitary draw came against West Indies. India lost against England after four days of riveting battle which saw Ben Stokes' England come back from adversity and clinch a famous win. India were on top after strong performances in the first two days of the Test match, but an immense fightback from Ollie Pope shifted the momentum of the game. Pope hit 196 runs which Stokes dubbed as one of the best innings ever played by an overseas batter in the subcontinent. Pope's heroics set a steep target of 231 runs for India which the hosts failed to attain.
