YB NEWS SERVICE Srinagar,Jan 29 On January 28, 2024, Pahalgam hosted the Natural Ice Climbing Wall Competition, collaboration between the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports and the Pahalgam Development Authority. The event aimed to promote adventure sports, showcasing the region's winter activity potential. 22 participants from diverse backgrounds showcased their skills and determination in conquering Pahalgam's challenging ice walls. The closing ceremony and prize distribution took place in the institute premises. All 22 participants received Certificates of Appreciation, a testament to their commitment to the challenging endeavor of ice wall climbing.ZeeshanMushtaq from Srinagar emerged as the fastest climber, receiving honors from the organizers.Mudasir Ahmad Malik and Umar Shafi Khan hold the 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports reiterated its commitment to promoting adventure activities, encouraging youth to engage in nationbuilding activities. Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, Principal of the institute, praised the youth for their participation, highlighting the potential for adventure activities in Kashmir and how they can contribute to nation building by channelisingtheir energies in right direction Participants defied harsh winter conditions, showcasing remarkable technique and determination. The competition tested mental and physical strength, pushing climbers to new heights. The event's successful completion serves as a testament to the growing enthusiasm for mountaineering and winter sports in Jammu and Kashmir, inspiring young climbers to conquer challenging terrains in the future.
