LG’S MULAQAAT: AN IMPORTANT PLATFORM

YB WEB DESK. Dated: 10/31/2022 12:49:19 PM

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha while interacting with the people during this month’s “LG’s Mulaqaat”- Live Public Grievance Hearing is emerging as an important platform to raised the issues directly with the government and make officials and departments accountable. While LG took first hand appraisal of the grievances of randomly selected applicants of JK-IGRAMS from across the UT he also issued on spot directions to the concerned officials for taking prompt action to solve the grievances of the people. This approach of the government has become popular in J&K as people feel be it in urban area or living in remote village that there is accountability for the officials and no official will delay any work. Government has already reiterated commitment to serve all equally across the Union Territory. A significant progress has been made during last two years to address the people’s concerns. The expectations of the people have grown immensely as a result of socio-economic success and a responsive service delivery system introduced by the government in Jammu and Kashmir. As an example while addressing the grievance of Rattan Lal from Jammu regarding the dilapidated condition of a Government Middle School building, the Lt Governor directed the School Education Department to conduct a survey of the status of school buildings. Directions were passed to Deputy Commissioners to take up unsafe school buildings on priority in District Plans. Similarly a complainant from Kathua apprised the Lt Governor about the non-availability of Ultrasound operator in Sub-District Hospital Bani, on which explicit directions were passed to Director Health Services to ensure that the health equipments are operational and submit a report in this regard. This is proactive approach of the government.
