J&K POLICE DISTRICT KISHTWAR SOLVES TWO THEFT CASES; SIX ARRESTED; STOLEN PROPERTY WORTH ₹5 LAKH RECOVERED

In a significant achievement, District Police Kishtwar has solved two theft cases involving hardware and kiryana items, arrested six accused, and recovered stolen property worth ₹5 lakh from multiple locations.

On January 7, 2025, Police Station Kishtwar received a written complaint from Mohd Farooq, proprietor of M/s Shalimar Glass House, regarding the theft of geysers and other hardware items from his store. Acting on the complaint, FIR No. 09/2025 under sections 305/331(4) BNS was registered, the investigation initiated

Subsequently, on January 11, 2025, another complaint was lodged by Raman Gupta, S/o Bodh Raj Gupta, R/o Shakti Nagar, Kishtwar, reporting the theft of kiryana items from his shop. Accordingly, FIR No. 14/2025 under sections 331(4)/305 BNS was registered investigation initiated.

*Acting promptly, SSP Kishtwar constituted a special investigation team led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar Leveraging a combination of technical inputs and meticulous investigation, the team identified and apprehended the main accused, Rahul Singh, S/o Mangal Singh, a resident of Kuleed Chowk, Kishtwar.

Following his disclosure, five other accomplices were arrested and thoroughly interrogated. The accused individuals have been identified as:
1. Rahul Singh, S/o Mangal Singh, R/o Near TRC, Kishtwar
2. Abdul Hamid, S/o Ghulam Nabi, R/o Melan, Kishtwar
3. Mohd Rafi, S/o Ghulam Kadir, R/o Dhar, A/p Drabshalla, Kishtwar
4. Abhishek Mahajan, S/o Kewal Kishore, R/o Udhampur City, A/p Thathri City, Doda
5. Irshad Ahmed, S/o Late Mohd Hussain, R/o Thathri Market, Doda
6. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, S/o Bodh Raj Gupta, R/o Kandani, Kishtwar

During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the thefts and disclosed the locations where the stolen property was concealed. Acting on this information, the police team successfully recovered the stolen items worth ₹5 lakh.

SSP Kishtwar issued a stern warning to anti-social elements, stating, “Kishtwar Police will leave no stone unturned to bring offenders to justice. Those involved in crimes like theft, sabotage, or other illegal activities will face the full force of the law. Maintaining peace and ensuring public safety remains our utmost priority.”
