TRAUMACON-24 concludes at GMC Rajouri with focus on advances in Trauma Surgery and Care
RAJOURI, OCTOBER 05: The Department of General & Minimal Access Surgery at Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospital Rajouri organized a two-day conference, TRAUMACON-24, on October 4th and 5th, 2024. The conference brought together distinguished faculties from both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions, as well as leading experts in trauma surgery and management, to share knowledge and advancements in the field.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, was a special guest at the event. In addition to attending the conference, the DC conducted an inspection of the various stalls set up for the occasion to review the facilities.
During his visit, he interacted with students and staff of GMC Rajouri, encouraging them to stay at the forefront of medical innovation and patient care.
In his remarks, Abhishek Sharma emphasized the potential for medical tourism in Rajouri, highlighting the need to develop the district’s healthcare infrastructure to attract patients from other regions.
He underscored the importance of advancing medical facilities and services in Rajouri, not only to meet local healthcare needs but also to position the district as a hub for specialized medical care.
Key figures in attendance included Dr. Ajaz A Rather, Vice Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Association of Surgeons of India (JAKASI) and Dr. Harbinder Singh Bali, Secretary of JAKASI. The event also saw participation from several prominent medical professionals, including Dr. Ratnaker Sharma, Head of the Department (HOD) of Surgery, GMC Jammu, Dr. H. Viqar Ahmed, HOD Surgery, GMC Baramulla, Dr. Nazir Wani, HOD Surgery, GMC Anantnag, Dr. Babar Rashid Zarger, HOD Surgery, GMC Doda, Dr. Abdul Rashid, HOD Pediatric Surgery, SSH Srinagar, Dr. Zafer Khanday, Patric Surgeon, Kashmir Division and Dr. Rouf A Khawaja, SKIMS Soura
These renowned experts, along with the faculty from GMC Rajouri, delivered insightful lectures on various aspects of trauma care and surgery. The conference aimed to update medical professionals on trauma management, from the point of injury to transportation, resuscitation, and advanced surgical care.
Dr. Ajaz A Rather highlighted the significance of continuous learning and collaboration in trauma care. He emphasized the role of conferences like TRAUMACON-24 in keeping healthcare providers up-to-date with the latest advancements in trauma surgery and improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Harbinder Singh Bali remarked that the scientific sessions provided an excellent opportunity for medical professionals to exchange ideas and best practices in trauma management. He stressed the importance of adopting innovative surgical techniques to minimize disabilities and improve recovery times for trauma patients.
Over the course of two days, the conference covered a wide range of topics, including emergency damage control surgeries, intensive care management, and strategies to limit long-term disabilities. Cutting-edge research, as well as novel surgical techniques and technologies that are shaping the future of trauma care were also discussed in depth.
