Illegal Transportation of Khair Wood Foiled by Jammu Police in Gharota area.

In a significant move against forest smuggling, the Gharota Police successfully intercepted an attempt to illegally transport *Khair wood* during the intervening night of April 9 and 10, 2025.
Acting on alertness, a police party from PS Gharota had established a naka at Jandial Chowk. During routine checking, they signaled an auto load carrier bearing registration number *JK02DD 6763* to stop. However, the driver tried to flee the spot. The police team acted swiftly and managed to intercept the vehicle after a brief chase.
Upon thorough checking, the vehicle was found loaded with Khair wood pieces and twigs, suspected to be meant for illegal transportation to earn undue profit.
A report was lodged at Police Station Gharota, and after completing all legal formalities, the seized vehicle along with the Khair wood was handed over to the *Forest Department* for further legal action under the Forest Act.
Police have reaffirmed their commitment to curb illegal activities and protect forest resources.
