VG: Why you joined the field of politics?
NG: Earlier my constituency was a part of Bandipora, but in 1996 after the delimitation it became a new constituency. Due to ignorance by the previous MLAs this constituency suffered a lot and no development works initiated by those leaders.
People were fed up by the decade old discrimination expressed faith in me and elected me the MLA. As being the MLA of this constituency it is my duty to work for the development for the better future of people, who voted for me.
VG: As the MLA, what is the progress of development in your constituency?
NG: Due to being a far flung areas, this constituency is still adjudged as most backward constituency, not much road connectivity, no regular power supply, no employment are the main reasons behind its backwardness. But from last some years, I has done enough and connected most of the villages with main roads, while all the villages are linked by link roads. With my efforts the people of this constituency are getting 6 hours of regular power supply, while I wanted to assure the people that next year, they should be able to get more power supply.
Due to non-availability of local labourers, it is very difficult to continue the development words round the year, but still we are doing some better for the people of my constituency.
VG: How is the performance of state government, are you satisfied?
NG: May be the state government is doing good in other constituencies, but where is the question of my constituency is concerned, I think they has been failed to done more for the development of this constituency, no big project has been sanctioned for my constituency. Even during the visit of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, he failed to make any big announcement for the betterment of this constituency.
Even, I have written many letters to the union ministries and urged them to start the work on tunneling the roads, so that we can also get an all weather road to keep a track over the movements by Chinese army, which is disturbing the peaceful atmosphere at the border in my constituency. But, I also wanted to express the gratitude to the government for starting helicopter services for the people of this constituency.
VG: Drug is a menace and affecting badly to our younger generation, what you say?
NG: It is very right that the drug is a menace these days and also affecting badly to our youth, who are easily getting under its influence. Main reason is the unemployment, due to which the educated youth feel more frustrated and getting towards these things. They must need proper awareness, guidance from the seniors as well as from their parents. I will suggest diverting their attention towards the sports or other areas, so that they have no time to go towards these drugs.
Meanwhile for the druggists, who are providing them such drugs without any prescription, should be deal strictly or government can also impose PSA on such people, who are supplying them these drugs easily.
VG: What is your message for the people?
NG: I will appeal the youth to use their power judiciously and work for the betterment of the society as well as by taking the care of their parents and seniors and avoid getting under the influence of bad habits.
This was all that the deputy speaker (LA) and MLA Nazir Gurezi has to say about the development of his constituency.
