VG: The winter season is around the corner, how the department is geared up to provide ration to people in upper reaches?
ZA: It is true that the winter season is around the corner, but the department has done elaborate arrangements to provide ration to the people in the upper reaches and far flung areas.
I have directed the concerned officials to ensure dumping of essential commodities for the coming winter season. I have also directed to ensure measures to avoid pilferage, lift quality ration from FCI, and display rate lists outside fair price shops for awareness of consumers.
VG: Still there are complaints about the use of manual weight machine by some dealers, when they will be replaced by new electronic weighing machines?
ZA: Might this be true, but the department has introduced the use of electronic weighing machines and in this regard has also asked all the dealers to install the electronic weighing machines at their counters so that there shall be no complaints regarding the complete supply of ration.
The Department is going to introduce on pilot basis electronic weighing machines for transparent distribution of ration among beneficiaries. Besides more FP shops will be sanctioned for each district.
VG: Lesser quantity of ration is very common complaint and people need increase in the quantum of ration, when they will get adequate quantum of ration?
ZA: This is a big issue and as being the minister of this department, I want to assure the people that the government is doing its best to provide them adequate ration. The Government is considering proposal to increase the quantum of ration under Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES) to 50 kgs from the existing 35 kgs for the frontier districts.
We are further hopeful that this proposal shall be implemented in all the districts of the state and people should get adequate quantity of ration.
I further impressed upon the concerned to work with added zeal, zest and dedication so that benefits accrue to the people at large and the essential services are delivered to the beneficiaries well on time.
