FACE TO FACE WITH DY CM / Regulated power supply to the people my priority: Dr Nirmal Singh

No laxity would be tolerated on the part of any official with regard to well regulated power supply to the people.
This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh during his exclusive interaction with the Young Bites. Here are the excerpts.

VG: Power scenario in Jammu is not up to the mark, why?
NS: Yes, it is true that the people are struggling baldy due to unregulated power supply. To came over from these complaints, I have ordered constitution of Quick Response Teams (QRT) to address the public complaints regarding power supply. Meanwhile, I have also inspected various Receiving Stations in Jammu during the past three days and paid surprise visit to Receiving Stations at Top Sherkhania, Muthi, Janipur, Bantalab, Channi and other part of Jammu city during late nights on August 13th, 14th & 15th to take stock of working of these installations.
VG: People alleges about the mismanagement in your department, is this true?
NS: Might be this true and during the inspection, taking serious note of the mismanagement at these installations with regard to maintenance of duty rosters, non adherence to the scheduled power cuts and poor maintenance of equipments. I have asked the Chief Engineer to take strict action against the erring officials. No laxity would be tolerated on the part of any official with regard to well regulated power supply to the people.
VG: What action is taken to restore damaged and snags in power supply?
NS: The government is committed for regulated power supply to the people and in this regard I have directed Deputy Commissioner Jammu to constitute Quick Response Teams for early restoration of damages and snags so that people do not face any inconvenience during the prevailing hot conditions. Meanwhile, I have also asked the engineers of PDD to perform their duties with dedication and carry out regular inspection in their respective areas to keep check on unscheduled power cuts.
In order to create conducive and good working environment for the officials of power development department, I have directed the Chief Engineer PDD to constitute a committee of officers to draft a plan for the renovation of existing receiving station buildings and creation of required infrastructure.
VG: Despite issuance of roasters in advance, unscheduled power cuts are continue, why?
NS: There is a need on maintaining discipline in the working of the department, so that the authorities to enforce strict adherence to duty roasters. I have asked the Department to stick to the already published curtailment schedule to avoid inconvenience to the public and also directed the officers to provide information about the unscheduled power cuts on a daily basis for requisite monitoring of the same. I have also called upon PDD authorities to create awareness among consumers about judicious use of electricity especially during peak hours.
