VG: The state is undergoing severe turmoil after increase in terror incidents, what you suggests the people?
NS: Really, this is matter of grave concern that the state is undergoing a severe turmoil as the number of terror incidents has recorded marginally. Kashmir is the abode of great Sufi saints whose teachings have always preached mutual coexistence, brotherhood and peace. The need of the hour is to follow the teachings of these great saints for leading an emancipated life devoid of strife and conflict.
VG: What you think, who is behind such incidents in valley?
NS: Main reason behind the increase in the terror incidents in the involvement of local youth, who are being misled by some leaders. To bring back the youth on track, these teachings are more relevant in today’s context where the world is torn by conflict and mutual distrust between different communities and nations. The teachings of these seers and saints need to be propagated especially among the younger generation some of whom are being misled by the vicious propaganda of those having nefarious designs of trying to create chasm between different sections of society and plunge the world into an era of chaos and confusion.
VG: Despite your efforts Shri Mata Sukrala Devi Ji Shrine and Shri Mata Bala Sundri Ji Shrine are still being neglected in development, why?
NS: The government is committed to develop every shrine in the state and in this regard, I have directed the officers for time bound completion of all the developmental and infrastructural works of the shrines. "A proper supervision of functioning of boards must be ensured to move ahead on the way of development of these shrines.
I further have directed the concerned officers to visit the shrines and submit status report of various developmental works at regular intervals. It is the duty of officers to take necessary steps to ensure proper management of the assets at the shrines.
VG: What steps has been taken by the government to boost the tourism in these shrines?
NS: We ensure that all the requisite facilities should be provided to the devotees coming to pay their obeisance at Shri Mata Sukrala Devi and Mata Bala Sundri Ji shrines. The Government is working with the vision to boost religious tourism in the State and to bring it to reality; comprehensive efforts are underway to ensure the development of various religious places and shrines across the State.
In this regard we also constituted a committee to supervise the working of the Shrine Boards and also directed to fix the responsibilities on the officers. Appropriate arrangements will be made for the comfort of old and disabled devotes travelling to the shrines.

* Police is here to serve the people and it is our duty to provide them a better life, in a crime free and peaceful atmosphere. * This was stated by the Director General of Police (DGP) Dr SP Vaid, during an exclusive interaction with the Young Bites. --------- Here are the excerpts. Vijay Gupta VG: As being the head of police family, what is your thrust for providing more facilities to your men? SP: Police family is a very big family which comprises of about 1 lakh and twenty thousand personnel, who works for day and night every day with a motive to provide the people a better and peaceful life. In this regard, we launch many welfare measures time to time. Recently, our big achievement was to provide promotions to many personnel, which has been approved by the government as a big welfare measure. Enhancement of ex-gratia for my men is also big news and we are trying our best to enhance this amount as compared to the ex-gratia amount, which is provided to the security personnel of other belt forces. There was a need for the reforms in health insurance, and I wanted to share here that we have started providing this scheme for our men at Narayana Hospital, in Katra, where every police personnel and his family members should get 15 pc discounts in their bills. Memorandum with the JK Bank is also a new welfare measure, under which every police person can avail a loan facility upto Rs 20 lakh rupees without any paper work and formality. Meanwhile for better entertainment facilities, we have signed a memorandum with the LG Company to provide electronic items to our men at the CSD rates and to provide better housing facilities to our men, who are protecting many important persons, I have asked my officers to provide them better housing facilities instead of tents. VG: Less quantity of ration to police personnel as compared to the security personnel of other belt forces is a regular complaint, why? DGP: This is true that the police of our state are getting less quantity of ration as compared to the security personnel of other belt forces; the issue has been resolved with the intervention of our Chief Minister. Now they are getting enhanced ration supply but still this quantity is less and we are trying our best to provide them adequate supply of ration earliest. VG: Housing colony for the retired police personnel is an old pending demand, is there any plan to provide them a housing colony? DGP: We are very keen to provide a housing colony for our men and this issue is still in progress with the government. There is delay as till date the government has not finalized the land for the construction of a housing colony. Once, the land is finalized we will start the construction for providing a housing colony. This was not all that the son of the soil and DGP Dr SP Vaid has to say about his department and his men, who are serving the people for better and peaceful life.
