YB NEWS SERVICE Jammu, Mar, 3 Under the Civic Action Programme Police in association with Barwal Athletes Club sponsored by CTM Kathua powered by Top FM 91.1 organized "4th Kathua Half Marathon" in Jammu and Kashmir with a strong message of "Run for Health; Stay Away from Drugs". It evoked an overwhelming response from the people of all walks of life braving the inclement weather conditions. More than 1000 participants from all walks of the life lined up at Sports Stadium Kathua today early in the morning. The Marathon was organized to wean youth away from Drug addiction and also to focus on the physical fitness of the youth to make a healthy India. The “4th edition of Kathua half marathon” run was flagged off by Anand Jain- IPS, ADGP, Jammu Zone, Jammu It was organized by District Police in which surveillance drones were used to track the runners. In all there were the following categories i.e. 21.1 kms (Males 18 to 40 Years & above 40 Yrs.), 10 kms (Males Age 18- 40 Yrs. & above 40 Yrs), 10 kms. ( for Open Women) for visual competitive and five kms for non-competitive (Run for Fun). After the completion of the event, an impressive prize distribution function was also held at District Sports Stadium Kathua. The presentation ceremony was graced by Dr. Sunil Gupta- IPS, DIG JSK Range accompanied by SSP Kathua Shivdeep Singh Jamwal- JKPS, Addl. SP Kathua Paramjeet Singh- JKPS, DySP Hqrs Kathua Manjeet Singh, SDPO Border Dheeraj Katoch, DySP PC Kathua Tilak Raj Bhardwaj, DySP DAR Kathua Subash Chander alongwith other police officers and dignitaries. The winners of different events were honoured with cash prizes and medals by ADGP Jammu Zone ,Jammu , Anand Jain-IPS, & DIG JSK Range alongwith other officers in which Manjeet Singh clinched 1st position in 4th Kathua Half Marathon 21.1Kms (Males above 20 -40 Yrs.) and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.15,000, Cheruiyot Too (Kenya) who got 2nd position was presented a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and Pankaj who got 3rd position was presented a cash prize of Rs.7000 whereas in this context 21.1 Km (Age category above 40 Yrs) Kushendra secured 1st prize by winning Rs. 15000 cash Prize, 2nd Prize was won by Yog Singh (International Athlete) who was presented Rs. 10000 cash prize and 3rd prize secured by Sunil Verma by winning cash prize of Rs. 7000. While Jatinder Singh 1st in 10.1 km (Males 18-40Yrs) category was presented with the cash prize of Rs.10,000 Ritik Sharma got 2nd prize with cash of Rs. 7,000 Tarun got 3rd prize with cash of Rs.5,000 and Rimpi Devi (Ambala) Ist in 10.1 Km (females open category) was presented with cash prize of Rs. 10,000, Ms. Sakshi Devi got 2nd prize with cash of Rs. 7,000, Sakshi Devi (Salalpur J&K) got 3rd prize with cash of Rs. 5,000 Ram Raj 1st in 10 km (Males 40-60 Yrs ) category was presented with the cash prize of Rs.10,000 Makhan Lal got 2nd prize with cash prize of Rs.7,000 Anil Katoch Retd. Police Officer got 3rd position with a cash prize of Rs.5,000. In addition, medals were also distributed among participants (Men / Women) who completed 21.1 Kms and 10 Kms category.
