DRAIN OUTSIDE PRESS CLUB NEED CLEANING

JAMMU, FEB 12 The big drain outside Press Club of Jammu needs immediate cleaning. However, sanitation staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation have failed to carry out regular de-silting. This has created a major health issue in the area. Apart from daily rush of people who mostly use the area to highlight their grievances, there is also a commercial complex and some government offices. However the area is not receiving the attention of the authorities. Local shopkeepers say they have raised the issue with the concerned staff of JMC but no step is being taken to clear the drain. The stagnant water and plastic garbage is dumped in the drain, a breeding ground for mosquitoes. “Just have a look at the drain. It has not been cleaned for years. JMC should take steps to repair and desilt the Nallah. Hundreds of people visit the area and there are also commercial shops, but the area has not received much attention from the authorities”, said Vicky Kumar . There are several areas in the city, where drains are in very bad shape and need repair. Further the dumping of the solid waste by the people is becoming a major issue of blockage especially during the rains, where majority of the Nallahs overflow.
