EDITORS GUILD FELICITATES SARDAR JAGJIT SINGH DARDI, ROHIT KANSAL

Jammu, Nov 27 Jammu Newspaper Editors Guild gave a warm welcome to PadmaShri Sardar Jagjit Singh Dardi, Chairman Chardikla Group. On the occasion chief guest was former Principal Secretary Higher Education and Information (J&K) Rohit Kansal. Kansal was also felicitated and given a warm farewell during the programme. He has been transferred to the Union Government. The Jammu Newspaper Editors Guild Chairperson Raj Daluja congratulated Sardar Jagit Singh Dardi for the prestigious PadmaShri award and recalled his contribution to journalism and maintaining the ethics of the media industry. Dardi has remained as Director Indian Newspaper Society (INS) from 1986 and is Chairman Chardikla Group. Editor-in-Chief Young Bites, Vijay Gupta is associated with the Chardikla as Director J&K since 2008. Vijay Gupta is also general secretary Jammu Newspapers Editors Guild. Guild president A.K Sawhney (Editor-in-Chief, Journey Line was also present on the occasion. He also spoke on the occasion and gave detailed information about the media industry. Speaking on the occasion PadmaShri Sardar Jagjit Singh Dardi said that despite changes sweeping the media industry it is important to follow media ethics. “Journalists have a duty to make a knowledgeable society and provide authentic information to the public”. He said that free media is a pillar of democratic institutions which makes a country. He said that any journalist can approach him with problems and he will ensure that all the issues faced by media fraternity are resolved. Dardi thanked the media fraternity of Jammu for felicitating him and said that J&K always has a special place in his life. Addressing the gathering of a select group of media persons and editors, Rohit Kansal appreciated the positive role being played by the print and electronic media in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that journalism plays an important role in democracy and recalled his interaction with the media persons in Jammu on several occasions. He thanked the Editors Guild for the support and appreciated its role in J&K.
