YB News Jammu,Sep 23 As part of continued drive to ameliorate the lives of locals and to outreach population in remote area. Indian Army, conducted Commercial Mushroom Farming workshop at Hunch in Doda. The rural face of Doda District still follow traditional model of agriculture for self-sustenance and have not monetised their hard work due to lack of know-how. Further, due to remote nature & unavailability of skilled guidance, the agriculture suffers from poor yield. In order to mitigate this problem and provide imminent relief to the people from their ailments, Indian Army conducted a Commercial Mushroom Farming workshop in Hunch village. A total of 30 small land-holding farmers participated in the event. The project aims to provide economic independence and social inclusion among the locals. A large number of villagers hailing from far-flung areas of the Doda region were selected and will be imparted training on scientific mushroom farming techniques along with provision of necessary infrastructure, mushroom spawns and agriculture raw materials required for the project. The beneficiaries include exclusively victims of terrorists attacks, family members of permanently incapacitated/ killed terrorists, differently abled persons and people below poverty line. This initiative not only empowers the locals to improve their economic status but also provides an opportunity to forget the past and move ahead towards bright future.
