POOJA THAKUR Jammu, Aug 7 From last few months it has been observed that the Senior citizens are running from pillar to post to get their pension. On this issue Youngbites team interacted with the chairman of Social Justice Committee, Ajay Gupta. Q: What are the steps being taken for the sen ior citizens? A: Our social justice committee holds meet every month to take care of this issue. Our committee works for the social welfare of the people. 2-3 months back we started getting complaints about this issue. It was said that BPL forms have to be attached with the pension forms to get that their pension. But this criteria never existed before. I think that when a person retires he is not physically that active to run from one table to another to get his pension. Q: So what steps you are taking to solve your grievances? A: Recently I have heard that those who are even attaching the BPL forms are not being asked to attach another form which is the PHH ration card form this is a new form being given to the ration card holders. People are facing a lot of problems in making the new ration cards because many times the website of CAPD is not working properly. I don’t think that there is much difference between BPL and PHH forms. It is very unfortunate to say that at my table I have around 150 forms which are not being accepted by social welfare department. It is my request that now administration should think of these poor people who are running from pillar to post to get their pension. I think that the Prime Minister of India works for welfare of poor people. But here we are observing that for a pension of Rs.1000 these people are running from pillar to post. I think that all the schemes should reach the people so that they get the maximum benefits of the scheme is meant for people. It is my request to the administration that they should not harass the senior citizens. Everything should be written in transparent way so that we could also tell the people that these are the formalities to be done before submitting their pension forms.
