R. D. Singh

R.D. Singh (Ripudaman Singh Aulakh) (born 7 June 1954) is an Indian athletics coach from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. He is a recipient of Dronacharya Award, by the government of India. He is India's first Dronacharya awardee coach in the category of sports for specially abled. Personal life He was the third son out of a family of 8 children born to Jarnail Singh Aulakh and Balwant Kaur in a small village Karadwala in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. His marriage was solemnised to Mrs Inderjeet Kaur on 22 January 1986. He has a son, Navdeep Singh. He has been running his own hostel by the name of Dronacharya Hostel in Hanumangarh since 1990. In this hostel 16 athletes can be accommodated at any time. This hostel is meant for below poverty line and physically challenged athletes. They get admission without any charge. Education After attaining his primary education in the Karadwala village he proceeded on to high school in Sadulshahar Tehsil. He completed his B.A. from Government College, Ajmer. After graduation, he completed his M.A. in History, Political Science and sociology from University of Rajasthan. In Professional Education he studied L.L.B. from Uni. of Ajmer and completed D.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. from Government College of Physical Education, Patiala. He also earned a Diploma in Coaching from National Institute of Sports at Patiala. Career as an Athlete R. D. Singh In early days he won school national gold in Shot put, Discus throw and Basketball.
