Nagpur: Cyber-criminal hacks into judge’s bank account, robs Rs 2.75 lakh

Nagpur, May 19 A judge of the Nagpur Sessions Court became a victim of cyber theft after around Rs 3 lakh were stolen from her bank account. A case has been registered in the Sitabuldi police station but no leads have come up so far. The cyber team has also joined the investigation. The incident took place on May 14 when Sonali Mukund Kanakdande (42), a resident of Civil Lines of Nagpur, used the Google UPI app to recharge her FASTag card with Rs 400 at around 4 PM. While checking her transaction history, she noticed the transaction of Rs. 2.7 lakh. She immediately called her bank which confirmed the transaction. After this, she lodged a complaint with the police. Talking to India Today, Police Officer Praveen Raut, who is investigating the case, said, “From preliminary investigation, we have learnt that a cyber criminal hacked into the judge’s account and email id, after which money was withdrawn from her account.”
