Hope to have made him proud: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pens letter after retiring from international football

New Delhi, May 19 FC Barcelona striker P i e r r e - E m e r i c k Aubameyang has announced his retirement from international football. The Gabonese star who has been in top form for the Spanish side announced that he will be hanging his boots for his country, on Wednesday, 18 May. In a letter to the Gabon football federation, Aubameyang said that he was proud to have worn the national colours for 13 years, following the footsteps of his father. Aubameyang thanked the Gabonese people, his coaches, teammates and his father, who also played for Gabon in the 1980s and 90s. "I want to thank my father who made me want to be like him and I hope I made him proud in wearing our colours," Aubameyang wrote in his letter in memory of his father’s playing days. "After 13 years of representing my country with pride.
