Over 800 resign over Edutech firm WhiteHat’s returntooffice mandate

New Delhi, May 13 Almost 800 full-time staffers of edutech company WhiteHat Jr have quit after the company asked its employees to return to their offices within a month over emails on March 18, according to a report by Inc42. WhiteHat Jr, a coding learning platform, which was acquired by Byju's in 2020, has offices in various locations, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Gurugram. A few employees, who spoke to Inc42, said it was a cost-cutting exercise and more resignations were expected in the coming days. The staffers said things had changed after Byju's acquisition and the exit of WhiteHat Jr’s founder Karan Bajaj. They said things were smooth till Bajaj handled the company affairs. Bajaj left the company in August 2021, a year after Byju's bought the startup for $300 million. Meanwhile, the company has issued a statement mentioning, “As part of our back-to-work drive, most of our sales and support employees have been asked to report to Gurgaon and Mumbai offices from April 18. We have made exceptions for medical and personal exigencies and have offered relocation assistance as required. Our teachers will continue to work from home.” In the tech world, Apple employees are also not in support of the firm's.
