Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Germany for his 3-nation Europe tour was marked by a grand welcome Monday in the capital city of Berlin when the colours and diversity of his homeland shone through at the Brandenburg Gate. Performers put on a spectacular show as men dressed in white banged drums in rhythmic synchronicity, while the centrepiece of the performance remained a flagbearer skipping to the beats with a saffron flag. Right from Modi’s arrival at the Berlin airport in Germany, he has been welcomed and cheered on by hordes of admirers. A young Indian-origin girl presented Modi with a portrait of him, while another kid sang a patriotic song. This is PM Modi’s first foreign trip since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation with Germany, Denmark and France over clean energy and other trade deals.
