Chris Lynn on ‘fractions’ in Mumbai Indians’ camp - They are starting to break off into little groups

New Delhi, Apr 22 Veteran Australia batter Chris Lynn reckoned the atmosphere in the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) dressing room hasn’t been great of late. MI, led by Rohit Sharma, are yet to open their account in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), having lost all seven of their matches in the tournament. On Thursday, April 21, the five-time IPL champions lost to Ravindra Jadeja’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by three wickets at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. With 16 runs to defend from four balls, Jaydev Unadkat failed to hold his nerve in the final over of CSK’s run-chase. Rohit and Co. became the first team to lose their first seven games in the history of the tournament. Lynn, who was a part of the MI setup in the 2020 and 2021 editions of the T20 championships, said there’s tension in the MI dressing room due to possible divided opinions. “Winning is a habit and losing is a habit...Mumbai has got issues with the bat, with the ball, and in the field and mentally. It just seems like there are factions everywhere in the set-up,'' Lynn was quoted as saying on ESPNcricinfo's 'T20 Time: Out' show. ''When you are down at the bottom of the table, guys like your captain, but also Kieron Pollard - he will normally be running in from deep mid-on or mid-off, helping out, calming him down. ''We haven't seen that with Mumbai yet because they are starting to sort of break off into little groups and they just want to get off the field. And it's not a great sign. And I think the change room right now wouldn't be a great place to be in,” he added. Rohit’s men are languishing at the bottom of the points table and are in a must-win situation for the rest of their games in the league stage. MI are next scheduled to lock horns with the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, April 24 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
