APPROX 45 LTRS OF ILLICIT LIQUOR SEIZED; 2 PERSONS ARRESTED

Kathua, Jan 20 Kathua Police time an again has been acting tough against the consumption/production of illegal liquor menace in the District and in consequence Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. R C Kotwal JKPS today seized approx. 45 litres of illicit liquor in the jurisdictional area of P/S Kathua near Sakta Chack & Kangriyal village alongwith two persons were arrested in this connection. On dated 19.01.2022 A Police team led by Insp. O P Chib SHO P/S Kathua under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua Sh. Shammi Kumar JKPS during patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area at Sakta Chack noticed one suspect who was selling illicit liquor to people of Sakta Chack probably at the back side of Jhelum Dhaba near canal. During checking said Police team apprehended one person namely Tarseem Kumar S/o Suraj Kumar R/o Beeko Bridge Near Railway Station Amritsar A/P Sakta Chack Tehsil & District Kathua.On physical checking, approx. 20 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from his illegal possession which he has kept in order to gain wrongful gain.While in another instance, police team of PS Kathua noticed one more suspect namely Suman Devi W/o Sham Lal R/o Kangriyal Tharhara Tehsil & District Kathua who was also doing the illegal trade of selling illicit liquor to people at Village Kangriyal near canal and at this time she has kept huge quantity of illicit liquor(approx. 25litres) in her illegal possession in order to gain wrongful gain.Thereafter all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor (approx. 45 litres ) was seized and two persons were arrested.On this two different cases vide FIR No. 29/2022 & 30/2022 U/S 48 (A) Excise Act were registered at Police Station Kathua and further investigation has been initiated.
