Former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal tests Covid-19 positive, admitted to Ludhiana hospital

Chandigarh, Jan 19 Former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday afternoon. According to reports, the 94-year-old Shiromoni Akali Dal patron has been admitted to the Hero Heart Institute of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana. While the Omicron bomb is ticking in several states of India, both politicians and the general public in pollbound Punjab are being seen flouting Covidsafety guidelines at crowded election rallies. Though no Omicron case has been detected in Punjab, the capital Chandigarh and neighbouring state Haryana are beginning to report cases of this more transmissible variant of coronavirus. Even Parkash Singh Badal was reportedly touring his Lambi constituency and met a number of people, including party leaders, in the recent past.
