Govt. Degree College organises a quiz competition

YB News Jammu,Jan 19 Department of Punjabi, Govt. Degree College Nowshera, organised a quiz competition on the topic ‘Lohri Festival” on 18thJanuary, 2022 to commemorate” Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” through virtual mode.Lohri festival is traditionally associated with the harvest of Rabi crops. The festival also marks the passing of the winter solstice, the end of winter, and is a traditional welcome of longer days.During this period of time, the Earth which is farthest from the Sun, initiates its journey towards the sun, consequently ending the coldest months of the year, Paush. It announces the beginning of Magh & the propitious period of Uttarayan. In accordance with the Bhagawad Gita, Lord Krishna gives evidence of himself in his full splendor during this time. The Hindus annuls their sins by taking bath in the Ganges River. The students actively and enthusiastically participated in the Quiz contest and showcased their inherent talent.It was very informative and knowledge enriching competition for the participants. Miss Harpreet Kour student of semester V secured 1st position while five students bagged 2nd position & three students secured 3rd position. The overall competition was organised under the able guidance of Principal,Dr.Surinder Kumar.
