YB News Rajouri, Nov 30 Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Rajesh K Shavan today said that the district administration has set the target of establishing 640 new Cooperative Societies in the district to create employment opportunities for the educated unemployed youth. Chairing a meeting of the officers to review the implementation of self employment schemes, he asked the concerned departments to put in extra efforts to reach-out to youth and motivate them to take the benefits of the employment schemes. The DC also took stock of enforcement of covid control measures in the district. He stressed on strict compliance to the Covid Appropriate Behaviour in public places and asked to activate the joint teams of the Civil, Police and Health Department to work in a coordinated manner at the ground level for the larger good of the public and strict enforcement of the Covid control measures. The DC took serious view over the closure of the gate of Police station Rajouri during his visit. He said no one is above law and the law will take its course. While reviewing the targets of enforcement, he expressed satisfaction at the level of fine imposed and asked the concerned agencies to further improve it by imposing on the violators. Reviewing the self-employment schemes, the DC said that the Government is providing a vibrant medium for engagement and empowerment of youth by launching various self-employment generation schemes and it is high time to generate mass awareness on such schemes and motivate the educated unemployed youth to avail the benefits of the same. Asking for mobilizing more youth to take the benefit of the MUMKIN scheme, the DDC asked the AD Employment to submit the Panchayat wise list of self-employment cases that have been sanctioned, those whose cases are under process and youth identified to be provided benefits of the MUMKIN scheme. The AD Employment was also asked to collaborate the data of the unemployed youth in the district. Highlighting the role of the Cooperative movement in boosting the economy of the district, the DC said that Cooperative societies can play an important role in self-employment generation activities and boosting the economy of the district. He asked the concerned to engage the unemployed youth in Cooperative Societies so that they can earn on their own. The DC underlined the need for revival of Cooperative movement and expressed concern over most of the cooperative societies having become non-functional in the district. He asked the concerned to take concrete measures to revive all the societies. It was decided in the meeting that 640 cooperative societies would be constituted by different departments in the district. Reviewing the implementation of PMEGP, the DDC asked the concerned officers to motivate more and more unemployed youths to avail the benefits under the scheme. He also reviewed the progress regarding the youth being trained under RSETI. The DDC also reviewed the ongoing Skill Development activities/ programmes undertaken by the ITI Rajouri and emphasised the need to capacitate more people with the skill of varied trades and directed for giving wide publicity to the skill development program.
