ARMY ORGANIZES WORKSHOP ON PREVENTION OF WINTER DISEASES

Jammu, Nov 30 Indian Army organised an awareness lecture on “Winter Diseases and their Prevention” for the students of Chunga in District Poonch (J&K) with an aim to impart basic knowledge of the diseases which generally occur in winter season. A large number of students attended the lecture. The audience was sensitized about health problems like respiratory diseases, skin problems, chilblains and other ailments caused due to extreme cold weather. During the lecture, various preventive measures that can be taken to avoid such diseases like pneumonia, common cold were covered. Climatic conditions effect epidemic infections. It is an important factor in influencing incidence of infectious diseases, other factor are socio demographic influences, drug resistance and nutrition. The cold weather and shorter days during the winter can make one lose the motivation to exercise and stay healthy. It leads to weak immune systems posing greater risk of contracting the diseases. The students recited the pledge of staying healthy. “By practicing prevention is better than cure”. It is essential to take holistic approach to general physical and mental health. Following healthy habits and safe practice will lower the chance of getting sick, so that we enjoy happy holiday session.
