Not sure whether to give credit to New Zealand or call India unlucky, says Inzamam-ul-Haq

Kanpur, Nov 30 Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was disappointed to see India not bowl out New Zealand on the final day of the Kanpur Test despite playing in home conditions with a worldclass bowling attack. India picked 8 wickets on Day 5 but fell short by 1 in the end as New Zealand's last-wicket pair of Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel batted resolutely in the final hour of the last session to deny the hosts at the Green Park Stadium. Chasing a target of 284 for victory on the final day, New Zealand slumped to 155-9 with nearly nine overs to go and an upbeat India was pressing for victory in fading light. But Ravindra and Patel passed the trial by spin and guided New Zealand to 165-9 before bad light stopped play. Inzamam said he didn't expect the tourists to bat throughout the day against the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel. "Not sure whether we should give credit to New Zealand or call India unlucky. It was clear even yesterday that New Zealand cannot win the match because they wouldn't have been able to chase down the score (of 284). "I feel New Zealand should be given credit for batting through the day on this pitch. I was, however, anticipating that there would be some wear and tear on the fifth day and that the likes of [Ravindra] Jadeja and [Axar] Patel would not let the batsmen play.
