Er Abha Gupta/ Pooja Thakur Q: Tell us something about your journey so far? A: My native place is Udhampur so all my schooling was done from that very place. I got seat in engineering and went to Maharashtra for the studies. My interest towards music started when I was studying in the engineering College. Q: How did you choose your profession as a professor and not as a singer? A: Right from my childhood I was passionate towards stage shows. At the age of six years I gave my first performance as a singer.I was an average student so I told my father that if I am not able to complete my engineering then search me in Mumbai because I will try my luck as a singer in Mumbai. Surprisingly I completed my engineering in four years and that too with the distinction and that’s why I chose to be a professor. Q: Along with the technical part do you ever teach music to your students? A: Music is very powerful. I have written articles on music therapy. Those who love music can know the importance of it. In engineering college students from all communities come for studies and sometime it becomes difficult to maintain the communal harmony. Music has the power to maintain communal harmony. I have a very good bonding with all my students. I have been serving since 2003 in engineering college. I think that it is only because of music that I have been able to connect with each and every student. Teacher has a power to motivate and mould a student. Q: You are a cyber security expert what do you think that people are aware of the cyber threats? A: My interest towards cyber security arose when I was doing my post-graduation. Those days people were not well aware of the cyber threats. Criminal minded people are using the internet to commit cyber crimes. I was so much fascinated by the subject that I introduced it in the engineering curriculum. I deliver lectures on cybercrime frequently to general masses as well as police departments. People have become victim of cyber crime nowadays. I request the students who are using social media to behave intelligently. Do not post bad, abusive, vulgar comments. As per IT act posting vulgar, abusive comments is prohibited and people can be penalised under IT act. The person can sue or file a case against the other posting abusive comments on social media. Q: You are not only singer but you write songs also, tell us something about your passion for writing? A: In the year 1996 I had joined radio as an approved Yuva Wani folk singer. So singing and writing songs went side-by-side. At the end I would like to give a message to the people that know yourself, know your passion. Don’t under estimate yourself as every person has some or the other quality. Follow your passion because passions are equally important to lead a stressless life.
