INDIAN ARMY CONSERVING FOREST WEALTH

Jammu, Oct 15 Indian Army focusing on the environmental concerns and its adverse effect, took an initiative of plantation drive at location Check, in District Poonch (J&K). To further foster a culture of responsibility towards nature, Indian Army along with Awaam of villages in remote locations near LoC in Poonch region dedicated the day towards “Green Future”. This plantation drive focused on “Plant Trees, Save Life” as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. This rewarding initiative witnessed a mass participation of the villagers, which included children and staff of the local educational institutions and members of social organisations. Appraising the gathering, the officials highlighted the environmental issues of afforestation in the present scenario of global warming. Officials appreciated the participants for their overwhelming contribution in the plantation drive. It re-emphasised the need of importance of respecting and protecting our ‘Forest Wealth’, rich flora and fauna for our future generations. The event concluded with the collective resolution of carrying out such initiatives in future and also ensuring the growth of the previous planted saplings as part of plantation drive.
