ARMY HOLDS INTERACTION WITH GUJJAR AND BAKARWAL

Jammu, Sep 23 Indian Army conducted an interaction cum awareness session about the Govt schemes for upliftment of Gujjar and Bakarwal Community’s at Lehran in district Rajouri (J&K). Gujjars and Bakarwals are one of the major nomadic group in the Himalayan region and have successfully maintained their identity by preserving their rich culture and ethnic traditions. The aim of this interaction cum awareness session was to create awareness regarding various schemes designed for uplifting the Gujjar and Bakarwal Communities and impart knowledge in respect of Education, Health and Employment of Youth. They were also informed about COVID-19 protocols and basic preventive measures like maintaining social distancing, washing hands with soap, wearing mask and avoid social gathering.
