IPL 2021: David Warner is raring to go, says Kane Williamson as SRH star returns to playing XI for DC clash

New Delhi, Sep 22 Former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner returned to the playing XI for their crucial IPL 2021 clash against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday in Dubai. Captain Kane Williamson confirmed that the Australian opener is back at the top of the order for Sunrisers as they resume their IPL campaign in the UAE. David Warner stepped down as captain earlier in the season during the first leg in India. He was dropped from the playing XI for their game against Rajasthan Royals in Delhi on May 2. However, in the absence of Jonny Bairstow who withdrew from the UAE leg of IPL 2021, David Warner returned to the playing XI. SRH had the option of playing England opener Jason Roy but the former champions entrusted Warner with the responsibility of opening the innings. Speaking after winning the toss and opting to bat, Kane Williamson said David Warner is raring to go and make a mark in the rest of the tournament. "He is a world-class player and he is raring to go. Hopefully, he can start things off for us on a good note," Williamson said. SRH have included captain Williamson, West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder and Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan as their four overseas players. Sunrisers are in a spot of bother, having managed just 1 win from their first 7 matches. Nothing went their way in the first leg of IPL 2021, leading to the stepping down of Warner as captain. Even after Williamson took over, their fortunes did not change as they lost to Rajasthan before the tournament was suspended. Sunrisers will need to step up and win all of their remaining games to stand a chance of making it to the play-offs of IPL 2021. It will not be easy against Delhi Capitals, who will be looking to continue their good run in the UAE.
