J&K government sacks Six employees on ‘militant links'

Srinagar, Sep 22 Six employees of the Jammu and Kashmir government, including two police constables, were on Wednesday sacked for their alleged links with terrorists. Officials gave this information. A committee appointed by the administration of Jammu and Kashmir to approve the dismissal recommendation under Article 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution. Abdul Wani was one of these 6 teachers. Officials say Allah Tigers was the district commander of a now-defunct militant group before joining the government service. The allegation against Wani was that he had a hand in creating unrest in the Valley after the death of militant Burhan Wani. These include Abdul Hamid Wani, a resident of Bijbehara in Anantnag, who was working as a teacher. Officials alleged that before being in government service, he was the district commander of the now defunct terrorist organization, Allah Tigers. Police constable Jafar Hussain Butt, a resident of Kishtwar in Jammu region, was arrested by the police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a chargesheet in a gun-wielding case, officials said. Currently out on bail, Butt is alleged to have provided his car to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists and facilitated their safe movement, a fact explained in the NIA chargesheet. He said that Mohammad Rafi Butt, a junior assistant posted in the Roads and Buildings Department of Kishtwar, was sacked for providing logistical support to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in Kishtwar and providing a safe environment to carry out terror plans, he said. His name is also mentioned in the FIR registered by the NIA. He has been arrested and is currently out on bail. He said Liaquat Ali Kakru, a resident of Baramulla in North Kashmir and a teacher by profession, was arrested from 1983 to 2001, which revealed that he was a locally trained terrorist. An explosive substance was recovered from his possession and he was booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for two years in 2002. He was later acquitted by the court in both the cases. Tariq Mehmood Kohli, resident of Poonch and posted as a range officer in the forest department, was also sacked for his involvement in smuggling of illegal arms, ammunition, hard drugs including explosives and fake Indian currency notes (FICN) from Pakistan. He is accused of being in touch with active militants and is registered as an OGW in the police records. Another police constable Shaukat Ahmed Khan, a resident of Budgam in central Kashmir, is accused of robbing weapons from an MLC's house. He was posted as a PSO with a member of the Legislative Council. He said that he was detained under the PSA in 2019.
