Traders Protests amidst Jmu bandh

Jammu, Sep 22 Amidst Jammu Bandh, Traders of Jammu on Wednesday lodged a Strong Protest against the opening of Reliance Retail Stores in Jammu. Different Trade associations under the banner of Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market(Regd.) Jammu gathered in front of the main gate of the warehouse and have expressed their anguish over the opening of Reliance Retail Stores in Jammu. Wearing Black Strips, Traders have expressed strong displeasure over the proposal of big companies like Reliance to open stores in Jammu in the retail sector, saying that if this happens then small shopkeepers of Jammu will be ruined and their shops will be closed. Traders will not allow this to happen. Sh. Deepak Gupta, President Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market Jammu while addressing media on this occasion said that we have been continuously appealing to the government to take some steps to save the small traders of Jammu but no plea is being heard. The Autocratic attitude of the higher administration not considering our repeated request resulted in today’s Jammu Bandh from the business community. Gupta said that If the government does not listen to them and does not stop Reliance Store from coming to Jammu, we will come on roads, hold dharnas and go on hunger strike. He expressed gratitude towards people of Jammu province especially the trader fraternity extending wholehearted support in making the Wednesday Bandh a great success. He said that the overwhelming support which the Jammu Bandh has received from various quarters of the society in the entire Jammu province is the testimony to the fact that the stand taken by traders is hundred percent right and the government should consider the demands henceforth.
