Prayagraj, Sep 22 Mahant Narendra Giri, who allegedly died by suicide on Monday, had planned to visit Bodh Gaya Math after Durga Puja to resolve a dispute. In an eerie resemblance to the Brahmachari Kuti dispute where accused Anand Giri got himself christened as the Mahant, the Bodh Gaya Math in Bihar is also the epicentre of claims and counterclaims. As per information accessed by India Today, Swami Ramesh Giri of Bodh Gaya Math was removed out of term without any enquiry and Triveni Giri was made the Mahant in April. India Today has now learned that Swami Ramesh Giri, who now lives in exile in Kasi due to security threats, had approached Mahant Narendra Giri, and he had suggested legal recourse. In Bihar, there is a religious board that has supervisory powers over religious bodies. In case any allegations are raised against the head of a religious body, the board initiates an enquiry and, accordingly, the process is followed. However, as per Swami Ramesh Giri, in his case, this was not followed. Late Mahant Narendra Giri was due to visit Bodh Gaya in October to seek responses from the administration on why Swami Ramesh Giri was removed. Suspecting a possibility of land mafias trying to get hold of math land, Narendra Giri had also suggested an inventory via a magistrate.
