Army organises volleyball tournament

Udhampur, July 20 In its aim towards fostering peace, empowering youth and to provide impetus to youth of the region, the Indian Army is undertaking heterogeneous activities in Dudu-Basantgarh region of Udhampur. In furtherance to the aim, to boost and revive sports activities in far flung areas and promote sportsmanship amongst the youth from remote areas of Dudu-Basantgarh region, Indian Army organised a Volleyball Tournament at Dudu. The Three days tournament organised at Dudu witnessed enthusiastic and superlative participation from youth of the North Eastern region of Udhampur district. Large numbers of teams participated in the event. Matches were played on knock out basis followed by quarter finals and semi finals. In the nail biting final match between Kirchi and Khaned, Khaned emerged as winner of the tournament. The Volleyball matches contested with highest standards of sportsmanship, discipline, energy and witnessed high enthusiasm from cheering crowd. The championship was terminated with rewarding the winners and contestants in presence of Army Officials and Dignitaries. The conduct of such event will go a long way in further strengthening the existing bond between people and Indian Army.
