Jammu, June 18 "If current status of Assembly constituencies continues even after delimitation, KPs will be the worst victims and shall remain unrepresented as usual", said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and KP leader, Incharge, Deptt of political affairs and Feedback, J&K-BJP. He was reacting to the activism of political parties consequent upon the Delimitation Commission's call for more presentations before it. It may be recalled that Chrungoo was invited by the Delimitation Commission in April this year for his presentation before the Commission. In a detailed Memorandum, he suggested reservation or nomination for five seats for the minorities of Kashmir valley on the pattern of Sikkim Assembly and Pudducherry Assembly. Chrungoo in another missive to the PMO last week sought an amendment to the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act of 2019, thereby creating an accommodation for such reservation or nomination for the minorities of Kashmir including Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri Sikhs and non- Kashmiri speaking Hindus of Kashmir valley. "I have been consistently saying that that the Delimitation process will test the intent of Indian state vis a vis thw displaced Kashmiri Pandits about whom it is always said that 'Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits'. This is the right time to translate intent into an action. This will also ensure a new vista for resettlement of the community back in Kashmir". While interacting with a cross section of youth on a virtual mode, Chrungoo said, "Every major community in Jammu and Kashmir has its loose or compact roots in the ancient Kashmiri Pandit community. Their surnames and names are evidences and living witnesses of these facts. It is tragic and sad that the Kashmiri Pandits over the last 50 years has remained politicially unrepresented in the Assembly and the Parliament of India. When 5% of the population remains on a brink, it reflected the story of whole society and polity. This has to be changed and the Delimitation is the right process to ensure so". The Delimitation Commission has to once again call Chrungoo for the second interaction along with his documents for submission. 'The meeting got delayed due to the Covid19 pandemic situation. It is expected that the presentation will be made in the month of July 2021'. The Commission joined by the Election Commission of India in April 2021 had said during the first presentation that 'there is substance in what was said by the delegation' comprising Chrungoo, Utpal Kaul and Sardar Harbans Singh.
