Tamil Nadu: Goods worth Rs 50 lakh destroyed in fire at rubber factory near Thiruvallur

Chennai, June 18 Aprivate rubber factory Esthell Rubbers is operating at the SIPCOT Industrial Park premises next to Gummidipoondi in Tamil Nadu's Thiruvallur district. Here, the tyres from the old vehicle are peeled off and machined into small pieces and sent to various tyre manufacturing factories for making new tyres. A fire broke out in an area of the warehouse where a rubber tyre was piled up this morning and spread to other areas due to the speed of the wind. This sounded the alarm and all the employees on duty there were immediately evacuated. Firefighters in 3 vehicles from Gummidipoondi are trying to bring the fire under control by spraying water mixed with chemicals. Residents in the area suffered from eye irritation and shortness of breath due to the fire. In addition, about Rs 50 lakh worth of goods were destroyed in the fire. Patirvedu Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the fire.
