PRIVATE CLINICS, DIAGNOSTIC CENTRES FLEECING PEOPLE IN COVID TIMES: NSF

Jammu, May 9 Under the terrible circumstances emerged due to Covid 19 pandemic, the private diagnosis Centres, Clinics owners are taking undue advantage and charging high rates of tests from the patients as per their own sweet will with the authorities of Health and Medical Education Department still unmoved and sleeping in deep slumber unaware of the spree of loot in vogue with impunity in Jammu and elsewhere. This was stated by Dr Vikas Sharma, JKUT President National Secular Forum (NSF) in a press conference today where he made startling revelations against the private diagnostic Centres and Clinics owners who are indulging into profiteering and minting extra money from the patients needing various tests and medical check up from doctors of private clinics. There is no control of the agencies working under the administrative control of Government assigned with the duties to regulate rates of tests and medical checkup , Dr Vikas said that private diagnosis Centres are charging differently exorbitant rates of CT Scan ranging from Rs 3000,4000,4500 to Rs 5000 and that of Ultra Sound from Rs 800, 1200 to Rs.1400 without any fear of controlling agency of Health and Medical Education Department, he alleged, apprehending that Drug and Controller Department appears to be hand in glove, thus giving a long rope to such diagnosis centres to exploit the gullible customers feeling compelled not to raise voice against overcharging due to catastrophe befallen on their patients because of Covid 19 pandemic. Saying similar is the conditions of other diagnosis tests including, Blood tests X-rays etc, Dr. Vikas Sharma said, adding that doctors running private clinics are allegedly charging high rates of their own whims with impunity from the patients walking in for medical checkup. He said that pvt clinic owners are charging additional high rates of their own from patients entering for checkup without Covid Negative report and there is none to ask them as different pvt clinic holders take different fees from patients for medical checkup in Jammu, he alleged, adding that one person has opened more than one diagnosis Centre on different fake names without any check from the Health Department. Dr. Vikas Sharma appealed the Lt Governor JK UT to take cognizance of the matter and direct the Health and Medical Education Department to depute its inspection teams for necessary action and display rate lists approved by the Department to avoid fleecing of patients through overcharging rates of diagnosis tests and medical check up from pvt clinics. Among those who were present in the press-conference included, Dr Sukhdev Singh, Papinder Singh, Pushpinder Singh and Rahul Sharma.
