New Delhi, May 6 Bangladesh superstars Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan have safely made it back to their country after the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 cut short their stints with Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively. RR and KKR organised a private plane to send back Mustafizur and Shakib. The two players were seen in good spirits as they posted a selfie from inside the jet and thanked RR and KKR for their help. "Alhamdulillah, we have safely made it back in Bangladesh without any trouble. I would like to thank @rajasthanroyals and @KKRiders franchises for making it happen. I would also like to thank our health ministry for its contribution," Mustafizur tweeted. Left-arm pacer Mustafizur had made his debut for Rajasthan Royals while all-rounder Shakib returned to play for KKR in the IPL this season. IPL 2021 was being played in bio-bubbles across 6 cities in India but the bubble was breached earlier this week in Ahmedabad and Delhi. 4 players (2 from KKR, 1 each from SRH & DC), 2 support staff members of Chennai Super Kings (bowling coach L Balaji & batting coach Michael Hussey) and a bus cleaner tested positive for Covid-19 on May 3 and 4 which forced the BCCI to take the inevitable decision of indefinitely postponing the tournament. Only 29 games were played in the 60-match IPL 2021 till May 3. The popular tournament was scheduled.
