New Delhi, Apr 21 India batsman Suryakumar Yadav made his longawaited debut for India earlier this year and the Mumbai Indians star said he is enjoying every opportunity he is getting at the highest level. Suryakumar stressed he is focussing to stay in the present while not worrying about the past as much as he can. Speaking to Sports Today in the latest episode of Inspiration, Suryakumar Yadav said he is enjoying the burden of expectation after having gotten the opportunity to represent India later than expected. Suryakumar had spoken to Sports Today about the disappointment of having missed an India call-up for Australia tour last year despite having scored 480 runs in IPL 2020 in 16 matches. However, the 30- year-old batsman got the opportunity during the limited-overs series against England. Suryakumar Yadav, as expected, made the most of the opportunity by making an early impression in India colours, hitting a match-winning 57 in his maiden T20I outing with the bat. Suryakumar followed it up with a quickfire 32 against England as India sealed the T20I series 3-2 in Ahmedabad. "I think I am enjoying the pressure as an opportunity. As I said, the opportunity has come after a very long time. So there is no point in thinking about what is going to go wrong and what if I don't perform? That part is already gone. That phase has already passed from my life," Suryakumar said. "I only think about how I can be better in the next game. In the last 2-3 years, I have been really enjoying each and every knock. Talking to myself about what I can do better rather than thinking about where I went wrong. This has been really keeping me going. The passion for the game has kept me driving to do well in every game. I only think about the positives, I try to stay in the present as much as I can, I know it's difficult but I really focus on small, small things," he added. Meanwhile, Suryakumar said he doesn't spend a lot of time in the nets as he focuses more on quality than quantity. "I don't do a lot of practice. I don't focus on quality, I like quality. For example, if I go into the IPL and a practice session lasts for 2- 3 hours, I try and make out what I can take which is going to help me in the next game. If there are going to be legspinners in the upcoming game, I try and p l a y a c c o r d - ingly at the nets.
