DC Poonch reviews COVID- 19 mitigation measures

Y B News Poonch, Apr 21 In view of surge in COVID- 19 cases and with the aim to further strengthen the COVID-19 mitigation measures, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Inder Jeet today chaired a meeting of officers to review the overall scenario in the District post second wave. At the onset, the Deputy Commissioner expressed his displeasure over the non implementation of decisions taken in the previous meeting by some officers. He exhorted upon the concerned officers to work with added zeal and dedication in the mitigation efforts being put in place by the District Administration. He directed Health Department to closely monitor the positive cases in home isolation and provide them with necessary monitoring equipments for better check and control against further spreading of the Virus. Stressing on the need to establish robust vaccination mechanism in the district, he instructed Police, Revenue and Health Departments to ensure strict vigilance at all the entry points to District and make 100% testing. He also directed them to enforce COVID-19 SOP guidelines. He also passed directions to EO Surankote, Poonch and BDO Mendhar for immediate fumigation of religious places, markets and public places of considerable gathering. Acknowledging their contribution, he directed for their 100% screening/testing of frontline warriors from Police, Health, RDD, Revenue and other line departments involved in the process. In view of the festive month, he directed the concerned SDMs and Tehsildars to hold frequent meetings with religious heads and seek their cooperation in fight against the virus by ensuring vaccination and to follow COVID SOPs. Reckoning means of transport as a potential source of spreading virus, he asked concerned SDMs and SHOs to ensure strict observation of SOPs related to COVID-19 in public/private transport and recommend cases of habitual offenders to the ARTO if any for further necessary action. Meanwhile, all the District Officers were also directed to vaccinate all the employees working under their control within seven days. The Deputy Commissioner also directed all the officers to implement the fresh Covid -19 guidelines issued by the government post 2nd wave in letter and spirit. To ensure check on influx of virus from Valley, he directed BMO Surankote to immediately establish checking/testing centre at Mughal Road which is set to be thrown open in near future. The officers attending the meeting included Sr. Superintendent of Police Poonch, ADDC Poonch, ACR Poonch, SDM Mendhar, Surankote, CMO Poonch, among others.
