Army organizes safe roads save lives

Jammu, Apr 21 An awareness lecture on “Road Safety” was organised by Indian Army at youth centre, Surankote in District Poonch (J&K), as part of its drive to spread awareness and encourage responsible road behavior amongst the citizens of the region. The main theme of lecture “Sadak Suraksha” is also the theme of National Safety Day which was celebrated in March. The attendees were made aware on importance of wearing helmets and seat belts while traveling. If correctly used, seat belts can reduce the risk of death in a road crash by upto 61% and use of helmets can reduce fatal and serious head injuries by up to 45%. The traffic rule and sign board were displayed for easy understanding of the audience. An appeal was made to students and civilian to obey traffic rules, avoid drinking and not to talk on mobile phone while driving. The attendees took pledge to obey all traffic rules for road safe. The students applauded the efforts of Indian Army in spreading awareness about such critical issues. A total of 25 students
