Jammu, Apr 20 Gujjars and Bakarwals have a unique lifestyle wherein the nomadic tribes with their livestock move to upper reaches of Himalayan ranges during summer and return to lower reaches in winters. Their culture and traditions have a great impact on the socio-political scene in Jammu & Kashmir. Every year in the spring seasons, Gujjars and Bakarwals migrate to the higher reaches of Pir Panjal Ranges. To mitigate hardships faced by the tribal population, Indian Army organised an informal interaction at Barakh in District Reasi (J&K) with the people of Gujjar and Bakarwal community. Army has always extended a helping hand to this migratory population by assisting them to avail medical and veterinary facilities, facilitating them in education of their children and rendering them with required help in the backdrop of COVID pandemic. Besides, the community has always been provided assistance in registration required to migrate to higher reaches and addresses other hardships being faced by the community in coordination with civil administration. The community of Gujjars and Bakarwals lauded the efforts of Indian Army for organising such a unique event for them during the ongoing migratory season and for lending them a helping hand to resolve various issues faced by the community.
