Dr Sunaini, Miss Jammu 2020 pursuing PG in Pharmacology during an interaction with Young Bites correspondent Pooja Thakur shares her journey from model to doctor. POOJA THAKUR Jammu, Apr 19 Q. Tell something about your success story? Dr: I would love to say that my passion to become a doctor made everything easy. I am a Miss Jammu 2020 winner, but I am career orientated and wanted to become doctor since childhood. I have done my schooling from Jammu and participated in many co-curricular activities. Most of the members in my family are doctors, I got inspired from them and wanted to be a doctor. But in my school days some friends suggested me to try modeling as I am very good in ramp walks and look pretty, so I decided to give modeling a try but my ultimate passion is to be a doctor in last. Q. How much it is difficult to crack medical entrance? Dr: Medical students know the real struggle. All the competitive exams are difficult whether it is medical, IAS or any other exam. Students need to focus on the study as these exams posses a wide syllabus. Students have to forget extra activities and have to stick to the books 24x7. People think that I have done MBBS on donation, it’s kind of easy but I want to clear cracking an entrance and doing a degree are two different things. Cracking an entrance exam is just the first step and if you have the privilege to skip that step, but still you have to study hard to pass the examination to get a degree in last. And if anyone is going pursue any degree in foreign, it require the same efforts and dedication to pass all the examination. Q. What does a pharmacologist do? Dr: Pharmacologists understand how medicines and other drugs work and how they're processed by the body so they can be used effectively and safely. As a pharmacologist we investigate how drugs interact with human’s biological systems. We may carry out in vitro research (using cells or animal tissues) or in vivo research (using whole animals) to predict what effect certain drugs might have on humans.
