Army educates children on cyber crime

Poonch, Apr 18 A large number of students now a day use smart phones. To educate risks involved while using the smart phones, Army organised an awareness lecture on “Cyber Crime” at Government High School, Ari in District Poonch (J&K). Large number of students from Ari and adjoining villages attended the lecture. During the lecture, the audience was made aware about various types of cyber/ internet crimes prevalent in the era of information warfare and measures to prevent cyber crimes like hacking, ransom ware, espionage, financial theft, phishing activities and other internet related crimes. Precautions while using the social media to include Facebook, WhatsApp etc was discussed in detail and measures like using genuine softwares, firewalls, Antivirus etc and the importance of not sharing passwords was explained. The students enthusiastically participated in the discussion and clarified their queries during interactive session. The initiative was greatly appreciated by the students and school staff and they expressed their gratitude for the knowledge imparted to them. A total of 28 students and teachers attended the lecture.
